Vote YES for Safe Playfields for Kids: a responsible plan to replace the unusable field with a new multi-use field, bathrooms, disability access, community spaces, and lights.

The Sausalito-Marin City School District serves K-8 students from the 94965 zip code of Marin City and Sausalito. Students attend school at the newly opened Nevada School campus in Sausalito. The new campus was built through Measure P funds and will provide a safe, up to date school for students to flourish for decades into the future.

When Measure P was passed, the initial project list included a complete upgrade and renovation of the dilapidated and largely unusable field on Phillips Drive in Marin City, contingent upon additional funding. Unfortunately due to State Law, the campus at Nevada Street needed to be rebuilt instead of remodeled, which left the District without funds from the bond to renovate the field and outside funds from the State of California have not come to fruition.

We now have an opportunity, through harnessing community support, to pass a small bond to complete the renovation of the play fields, honoring the desire of the community and providing future generations of Marin City and Sausalito children and community members with a safe field to play, compete, and connect with others.

Voting Yes on Measure I Will Provide the Funds to:

Complete required Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades to provide access for all

Include oversized underground piping for additional storm water retention, helping with flooding

Reconfigure and Renovate the approximately 140,000 SF of existing dilapidated field space into a flexible field for soccer, baseball, softball, flag football, lacrosse, with a 400-meter track

Include a 20,000 square foot parking lot at the annex

Provide sports lighting for evening access

Include a shade structure for community gatherings

Build 2 single occupancy restrooms
